Courses
Traditionally in the past people used to have 1 lesson a week take maybe 10-15 lessons then take and probably pass their test.
Nowadays things have changed quite a lot. Firstly the test is more intensive than it used to be and there are a lot more vehicles on the road.
You can still take 1 lesson a week however it will take longer for the average person to reach test standard. The DSA says an average pupil passing the test has had around 45 hours of professional tuition with around 22 hours of private practice. As you can see that could take nearly a year to complete.
Nowadays a lot of people tend to have a 2 hour lesson as more driving takes place and you remember more.
Alternatively you could do an intensive or semi intensive course if you are wanting to get to test standard in a short space of time.
The choice is yours

time from work to complete.

Similar to Intensive but normally spread over 2 weeks
Mid-way courses
For those people who already have some on road driving experience. the number of lessons required
will depend on the individuals ability. Usually an assessment lesson is carried out beforehand
to attain this.
